During the test, you will neither see nor fell anything happen.  It is totally painless and has no know side effects.

Because no radiation or radioactive substances are used, patients requiring frequent scans avoid the potential danger of radiation exposure.

All you need to do is lie still.

You can help to produce a high quality image by lying still during the examination while breathing normally.  The average scan will take from 30 to 60 minutes to complete.

The open-air design of the Charleston Physicians Imaging Center MRI lets you relax in comfort ( some patients nap during the examination).  It also enables parents to lie along-side, or sit next to small children.

Adding to the comfort of this system is the absence of loud noises common with many other MRI units.  At most, you may hear a faint knocking sound.  If you wish, you may select music from our extensive CD library to listen to during your scan.

The results of your examination will be studied by an MRI trained radiologist who will provide your doctor with the results within a 24 hour period.
